Hi, welcome to my classroom web site. I currently teach 4th grade at Forest Glen Elementary School in the Howard-Suamico School District. This will be my 28th year of teaching. I enjoy teaching children and my greatest satisfaction is seeing students succeed and watching them develop a love of learning.
I have lived in Wisconsin for all of my life. I grew up in the Howard-Suamico area and attended Bay Port High School. I graduated from high school in 1984. In 1990 I graduated from University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with an emphasis in elementary education. I received my Masters in Technology in Education in 1999 from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA. Throughout my career, I have attended numerous colleges and universities in Wisconsin, taking classes and learning new things which benefit my students. Having a love of lifetime learning benefits my students each and every year!
My teaching career began in Howard-Suamico where I worked as an instructional aide for part of the year in fourth grade at Forest Glen Elementary. The following year, I transferred to first grade at Howard Elementary and reading enrichment at Meadowbrook Elementary. In 1992 I began my classroom teaching career. I was hired at Forest Glen Elementary as a second grade teacher the week before school began. I scrambled to get my classroom set and we were off and running. That was an exciting year for me. After that I taught in a third grade classroom for five years. I then had the unique opportunity to loop between third and fourth grade for four years. Lastly, since 2001, I have been teaching fourth grade.
I have two brothers. Jeffrey lives in Suamico, WI with his wife and two children. Mark lives in Alaska. I enjoy spending time with my family. I feel very fortunate when I can spend time with my nephew, Jackson and niece, Jilian. I was once considered their "second" mom. My father is also living in the area so I spend as much time as I can with him. When I am not spending time with my family, I enjoy traveling, golfing and reading.
